Dorset Gliding Club, situated close to the Purbeck Hills is a friendly local club that welcomes visitors and new members. The club is affiliated to the British Gliding Association.

We fly most weekends and some weekdays during the summer. If you are interested in gliding and would like to find out more then please browse this site or why not pay us a visit or apply for a trial lesson.

Trial Lessons

Trial Lessons are not only a great gift but also an ideal introduction to gliding for anyone considering membership.

The cost of a trial lesson is £80.

To apply, download the application form by clicking here. Save, print and complete the form. Return it with a cheque to the address printed on the form. You will receive the voucher by post which has details about how to book the flight. Vouchers are valid for 1 year.

To all Club Members,

The Annual General Meeting of the Dorset Gliding Club will be held on Wednesday 8th July at The Dorset Golf & Country Club, starting at 7.30 p.m.

Please come in good time to order drinks. A light buffet will be provided.

Task Week this year will be from 25th July until 2nd August.

Barbeques, camp overs and lots of flying from dawn til dusk.

Put it in your diaries and book the time off of work.

Mid June. More excellent flying conditions, Sunday 14th especially. Many pilots' aloft for many hours with Peter Robinson flying from Bovington - Bridgwater - Lasham and home again. Congratulations to Barry Stuckey who completed his silver badge by achieving the required height gain. A special mention for Carol who worked tirelessly throughout.

To June. The good flying conditions continued as the club members' enjoyed the weekends and late May bank holiday. Many hours of soaring was enjoyed by all with Ian Bateman aloft for nigh on 6 hours in his discus.

Tony Law passed his Basic Instructor exam and is now flying some of the many trial lessons, congratulations go to him.
