Eyres Field

Dorset Gliding Club, situated close to the Purbeck Hills is a friendly local club that welcomes visitors and new members. The club is affiliated to the British Gliding Association.

We fly most weekends and some weekdays during the summer. If you are interested in gliding and would like to find out more then please browse this site or why not pay us a visit or apply for a trial lesson.

Trial Lessons are not only a great gift but also an ideal introduction to gliding for anyone considering membership. We have a range of lessons or flying experiences.

  • Introductory Flight: £125 - An easy-going and exciting introduction to glider flight to suit everyone. This wonderful experience makes an ideal gift for young and old alike.
  • Jurassic Coast Run: £250 - Experience stunning views from 4000 ft over Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and beyond. A perfect photo opportunity.
  • The Mile High Club: £250 - Soar to 5280 feet above the ground for views into five counties.
  • Trial Lesson: £125 - For those with ambitions, a more taxing flight and a chance to experience basic flying techniques with one of our approved pilots.
  • One Day Course:  £250 - Designed to offer a day as a club member under full instruction with a British Gliding Association Instructor and with view to joining the club.
  • Group lessons - contact the club for details.
To apply, download the application form by clicking here. Save, print and complete the form. Return it to the address printed on the form. You will receive the voucher by post which has details about how to book the flight. Vouchers are valid for 1 year.

Lulworth CoveThe flight will be a 4000 ft aero-tow over the Jurassic Coast and the iconic Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door passing Lulworth Castle along the way, with dramatic and inspiring views along the Dorset Coast to the Isle of Portland and Poole Harbour.

This trip is only permissible in certain weather conditions, your name and details will be entered on a list and when the conditions permit you will be contacted to come along to the club to enjoy this fantastic trip.



One day gliding course

Are you interested in gliding but are not sure what it is really all about? Then the intensive one day course might be for you.

Come and spend the day with us at Dorset Gliding Club and get a real idea of what it is all about. The offer includes 2 Aero-tows each to 3000 ft plus briefings and logbook.
