2010 prices have been issued, see the list here

Task Week for 2010 will be from July 24th to August 1st.

Dorset Gliding Club would like to wish all our friends and associates a very happy and prosperous New Year for 2010.

The club's hangar, being made of fabric, has been in a sorry state for some time ( the story of the hangar can be read here ). In a recent storm another large tear appeared which, like on the many other occassions, had to be patched. The hangar has served us well beyond its expected lifetime but with so many tears, leaks and patches it is really now at the end of its life. This posed the club a problem, a new cover for the hangar is a major expense for a small club such as ours and so, with cap in hand, the club approached Sport England for some funding and, the club is pleased to announce that it met the required criteria and has received a grant towards meeting the cost of the new fabric and hangar refurbishment. The club would sincerely like to thank Sport England, the Sport England logo and link will appear on the club's website from now on.

The grant

for the hangar is really great news for the club and along with the recently negotiated new lease the club can look forward to 2010 and beyond.

Other news. The club took possession of a dilapidated launch control trailer from North Hill which has now, with the efforts in particular of Dave Finch and Doug Every, been completely refurbished. It took many hours of work but the result is superb. Already, with the onset of winter members can be seen huddled within its insulated walls between launches.

At the end of the summer Mark Enfield and Anthony Sanders, on consecutive flights, completed their 50th solo towards their Bronze Certificate. There are now 4 members who should shortly complete their Bronze and move on to their Silver.
